As we are almost in the city centre here we went exploring and found ourselves in St Peters Square where a huge new building is being erected. The Metro trains run very frequently and as we can use our bus passes to travel on them we boarded one bound for Salford Quays. It was quite an interesting ride through the streets, then above the city and over the Bridgewater and Manchester Ship Canals. We returned to amble around the Arndale shopping centre and up Deansgate where we saw this grand Hotel with a frontage reminiscent of a large birthday cake! Surprisingly a Squirrel ran across the pavement and attempted get through the busy traffic, everyone gasped, then he went back whence he came. Peveril of the Peak was a quaint little pub in the back streets covered in beautiful ceramic tiles.
