We very much enjoy this part of the Oxford Canal as every lock has different scenery. Once through Cropredy Lock we were off up the Claydon flight to moor in one of our favourite spots near the top. Not many boats cruising and all the locks were in our favour so they took much less time to pass through than anticipated, phew!
Although I enjoy the exercise whilst doing the locks, the Cabin Boy does his share of winding and manoeuvring the lock gates. Luckily these narrow chambers are quite easy to step across from one of the bottom gates to the other. This saves time and much walking round. So, we made it up the nine locks in two hours. Once moored up we were bothe in need of a rest with a welcome cuppa.

Hi Ann , could you give Carolyn some training in how to step over the gates !!! And not to have to walk all the way around .
Never look down to the water just concentrate on where you are stepping to. Of course your legs need to be long enough. However my legs are too short for some of them, and getting shorter I think.
