Hatton Locks.

As we approached the locks before 8am we were pleased to see a boat just entering the bottom one. It turned out to be a nice couple on nb Lazy Dayz and again it was a pleasure to lock up with them. The winding gear on the 21 locks is hydraulic and takes quite a lot of effort to lift and sometimes shut the paddles. As we rose up so did the temperature, and on ascending 146 feet to the top we were suffering from dehydration. Tea, cake and ice-cream was desperately needed, phew. A brief stop at the services for water etc and we were both off to moor up for a break near Hatton Station.
