Bottle’s Father had reached the ripe old age of 90, so we set off to celebrate with him over the weekend. We found his parents in good spirits and while we were having coffee our daughter, partner and grandson turned up too. We knew they were joining us but it was a nice surprise for the Birthday Boy! We all lunched together at the Ladybird, then it was back for Birthday cup cakes made by our daughter. These were accompanied by a ‘Lightning McQueen’ cake that his great grandson had chosen especially for him. We stayed overnight then travelled across country to see our daughters new home. It was rather exhausting as our grandson wanted us to play with him non-stop. It was a nice day so we spent some time in the garden and even helped with a bit of gardening too.
The herbs etc, had to be watered, so I had to fill his little water can about 20 times which kept him busy for quite a while. Then we were presented with a lovely homemade cake for our Ruby Anniversary which is later this month. Very professionally done and a chocolate one too, I think we have a budding Delia here!
What an exciting weekend we had, covering 450 miles altogether. On Monday Bottle returned the car to Enterprise in Crewe and we did a trolley run to the supermarket to re-stock our supplies. Needless to say the rest of the day we relaxed and put our feet up.
