Forties Weekend

After yesterday’s wet and windy day with Bottle at the tiller having his en route coffee continually topped up with rain, we set off this morning from Weedon Bec in lovely sunshine. However I did remember to use the insulated mug with a lid for him to enjoy his coffee as we cruised through the leaky 3076 yards of Blisworth Tunnel.              IMG_0042 Sculpor

We emerged at Stoke Bruerne to find that the forties weekend was in full  swing and there were no moorings to be had until we reached the bottom of the seven locks.

Nutfield with it’s butty Raymond were there among many other working boats. We said ‘hello’ as we passed Keith and Jo on Hadar who were looking good in their forties gear!

Dads Army were on parade as we waited to enter the lock mingling with the many ‘gongoozlers’. Tomorrow we will walk back up from our mooring spot below the locks to join in, although stormy weather is forecast.
