We set off for a circular walk into the village to fetch milk from the local shop. The girl who ran the shop was very friendly and had lived there for fifty years. She chatted to us about the history of hat making and pointed out where the footpath back went across the railway. The whole place was very tidy and well kept, although it was quite overwhelmed with many housing estates all around it.
The church had a large graveyard which had also spread into a field across the road where there was a quaint row of almshouses.
This was our peaceful mooring near Mancetter with cows one side and sheep the other.
When we returned across the field path the cows were lolling about sunbathing .
