As the salad days were still lasting out we pulled on the shorts and set off towards Tardebigge Tunnel.
Some lucky person is having the lovely old building by the boatyard converted for residential use.
The tunnel lining was a bit of a hotch-potch made from sandstone, brick and cement.
We dawdled along in the sunshine, then through Shortwood Tunnel and stopped for diesel at Alvechurch Boatyard. We asked the chap how busy they were and he said that June-July hireboat holidays had dwindled, but they were much busier in August. There were quite a few of their boats and Anglo Welsh boats that we had met.
We moored up just beyond Bridge 61 and had a walk to the Co-op in the town. There are several useful little shops and pubs within easy reach of the canal here.
