Well after receiving a new ‘dongle’ and the same problem arising, I contacted our mobile phone company.
After trying many different things, uninstalling, re-installing, different drivers and a few more, it has been decided that the fault is with a Microsoft Security Update.
I have now got a work round, not ideal but we can again use the net.
Over the next few days we will post all the blogs from the last fortnight.
