From our lovely mooring here we caught the bus into Stafford for a day out among the crowds. Brunch with bottomless coffee was in Wetherspoon’s splendid old Picture House. We then perused the shops to the other end of town only to find another W'spoon’s called The Butler’s Bell. By this time we were in need of a cooling pint of Guinness, so in we went! The incoming bus sets you down near the shopping centre, but there is quite a walk out to catch the bus to return.
Penkridge is a fab place to linger for a few days with it’s twice weekly market, Co-op, Sainsbury’s local and busy main street lined with little individual shops, especially the bakers..
