Oakfield has travelled many miles around the system, but today she has had more paint scraped off along her side by just being moored up! Some lunatic boaters thought that they could handle their boats in the gale force winds that we are encountering at the moment. WRONG.
Consequently several have scraped along our side, at speed and not even bothered to apologise. Not even when we have leaned out of the side hatch and bellowed at them! Now one has got firmly blown onto the bank and is desperately trying to push his boat back out to no avail.
So, our advice to cruising in strong winds is, DON’T BOTHER, pull over and nail your boat to the towpath, chill out with a drink and wait for the wind to drop.

What a shame human nature is no better off the roads.
Can you replace the fenders with spikes, like on the wheels of Boudicca's chariot?
